Alice Breon, who has a Master's Degree as well as the ability to 'sign' will serve as the on-site Director of Operations throughout the summer and hiring is already underway for a hearing impaired-trained Program Director and Staff Counselors.
Camp Kirby Counselors come from across the region and have experience or training in working with children, children's programs and sporting activities. These counselors share a love of nature, sports and creativity with their charges- and Camp Kirby boasts an excellent counselor-to-camper ratio of 6 to 1.
Specially trained counselors are hired for Camp Kirby's 4-week session for deaf and hard of hearing children and their siblings. Many of these counselors are also deaf and make excellent role models for the campers.
